Many species of birds live within the park. It is possible to site up to 7 species of Kingfishers and resident Hornbills on a daily basis. Various monkeys including Gibbons and long tailed Macagues also make appearances throughout the day. Elephants and Tigers do reside in Kao Sok and occasionally make a "guest" appearance.
Khao Luang National Park-More than 200 species of birds make their home in “ Khao Luang National Park ” the located in the Southern Peninsular province of Nakhon Sri Thammarat.The hill evergreen and montane forest provide some of the best montane birds habitats in the country and many species found in Khao Luang national park are rare resident and found only in Southern Thailand.The park is set within the Nakhon Sri Thammarat mountain range providing a variety of wildlife habitat types in relation to elevation. Within the park is tallest point in Southern Thailand, Khao Luang it stand 1835m. tall,with cool temperatures, as low as 5C, and tree species such as Oaks and Rhododendrons near the park.at the lower elevations, there are high rainfall, humid climate and plants such as Dipterocarpacae, Leguminosae, Plam and Ficus species, Mosses, Ferns and Climbing vines.Of the park"s tourist spots,Krung Ching waterfall is know to be the best birding location.Most species at Khao Luang are resident, so good bird watching is available all year round.
Khao Nor Chuchi or Khao Pra-Bang Khram Widlife Preserve- A Lowland forested park of 150sq km, Khao Nor Chuchi/Khao Pra-Bang Khram national park supports the most diverse remaining lowland bird fauna of any site so far known in Peninsular Thailand, with over 200 species of resident and migratory birds. Species includes a great many lowland specialists and other species which are scarce elsewhere: Malaysian Honeyguide, Crested Wood-Partridge, Crested Fireback, Jambu Fruit-Dove, Diard's Trogon, Red-crowned Barbet, Javan Frogmouth, Black-throated Babbler, Ferruginous Babbler, Large Wren-Babbler, Rufous-crowned Babbler, Striped Wren-Babbler and Chestnut-rumped babbler .This national park is the only site known to support a potentially viable population of Gurney's Pitta , with 8-12 probable territories so far located. Hooded Pitta, Giant Pitta and Banded Pitta also present.
Mangrove Forest in front of Krabi Town- The Mangrove forest in front of Krabi town is one of the best Bird watching sites in Southern Thailand; our trip is very easy with Mr Dai, He is an excellent local bird watching guide. Mr Dai will take you into the mangroves to explore some of the most interesting birds. Species include Mangrove Pitta, Mangrove Whistler, Flyeater, Brown-winged Kingfisher, Ruddy Kingfisher, Mangrove Blue Flycatcher and other birds.
